Marriage, blessings and Thanksgiving
We seek through pastoral preparation to ensure that your Marriage is a deeply meaningful and joyous occasion. We fully support couples in their decision to base their commitment to each other on the firm foundation of God's love. For those who may have previously been married in a civil ceremony (including all genders), services of Blessing and Thanksgiving for Marriage are available on discussion. These services are also available for couples who wish to mark special anniversaries with worship and thanksgiving.
For more information on these please contact Revd Ian

Funerals and memorials
Your parish churches and ministers are there to offer you pastoral care and support in difficult times of grief, find appropriate ways to honour and celebrate the lives of loved ones who have crossed the threshold, and commend their souls to God's love and care.
Words of Comfort
A poem by our former Lay Reader, John Sylvester
Friends, do not grieve that I have gone.
My body's dead, my soul lives on.
Please do not have a saddened face.
I am no longer in this place.
The God who gave me birth and life.
Has rescued me from earthly strife.
To dwell with Him in Heaven above,
Surrounded by His peace and love.
So do not grieve that I have gone.
But praise the Lord; my soul lives on.
John Sylvester, 2002

Home blessings
On moving into a new home or sometimes at times of difficulty, home blessings can bring great comfort and reassurance. These special visits and prayers are available on request to the clergy.

Communion
For regular church members, especially young children, who may not yet feel ready to be confirmed, it is sometimes possible to be admitted to Communion, as a preliminary step to Confirmation.
You are warmly welcome to discuss this possibility with Revd Ian
Baptism ceremonies
This service of Christian initiation takes place either in the context of Sunday worship or for private services for family and friends, as may be desired. The emphasis is on inclusivity and making our visitors feel at home. Baptism is available for children and adults, and in keeping with the Church of England practice we have an open baptismal policy, respecting the right of all parishioners to be baptised.

Pastoral care
Pastoral care plays a central role in our mission and ministry to the local community. This may take the form of visits and conversations in relation to Baptism and Confirmation as well as for Marriages and Funerals, along with hospital and residential home visiting, sick communions, prayers for healing, house blessings and home visits to the elderly and house-bound. We also take seriously the ministry of anointing for healing and in preparation for the end of life. Spiritual consultations and direction are available on request.
